A line cook is responsible for preparing food, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the quality of food. Their responsibilities may include:
- Setting up and stocking food: Preparing food, such as by cutting, chopping, mixing, and making sauces, and stocking food items and other supplies
- Cooking food: Using recipes and standards to grill, fry, sauté, and other cooking methods
- Maintaining cleanliness: Sanitizing cooking surfaces, utensils, and tools, and taking out trash
- Ensuring quality: Plating food, inspecting and testing food, and ensuring food meets standards
- Managing stations: Being responsible for their designated station and ensuring the station is clean and in compliance with safety standards
- Other kitchen duties: Performing other kitchen duties as assigned
